Gene started the DeMolay Chapter in Upper Sandusky so it would be there for his sons when they were older. Mark was 9 and Andy 6 when the chapter started, you had to to be 14 to join.

It was Andy who came home from Scouts one day with the news that the troop needed a new Scout Master. "I told them you'd do it Dad". Gene was Governor of the 16th DeMolay district, in the Grand Commandery line and in the Rose Croix line in Toledo. He took over as Scout Master.

Andy's daughter Amy received the Rainbow Girls
Grand Cross of Color. Amy is a Past Worthy
Advisor and served as Grand Faith.
